A note from Alex

I love nothing more than spending time in our services and with people we support. Not only is a good reminder about what it’s all about, but it also helps me make better decisions. I like to get stuck in and work/shadow where I can and in the past few weeks I’ve spent time in our ACC client café, outreach and transition service, supporting/shadowing the fantastic teams there.

I learned a lot about how we work, how the people we support live and some of their needs, and some of the day-to-day challenges that our team face. I also get to see, first-hand, the care and compassion that is given in every interaction with everyone we support, how our team go above and beyond to make people’s lives better and support in whatever way they can, how we understand the people we support so well and try to help even when faced with a challenging situation – it really is incredible and my sincerest thanks to everyone.

Excitingly, we’ve started the process to create our new plan… but it is so much more than that. For all that’s amazing about this charity it could do with some modernisation and updating in many areas and our plan is about identifying that, but it’s also about agreeing where we’re heading.  What’s important to us? What are our core values? The BIG questions.

And that’s why we need you, your team, the people you support and others to get involved. Complete the survey please, get others to complete it and discuss in your teams and get involved.

This is the best opportunity you will get to input into the future of the charity, and you will be heard!

I hope you’ve seen the new SLT charter – as a team and senior leaders, we have made new commitments to each other and the organisation about our approach and behaviour. Please do let me know if you have any feedback.

Thanks everyone for your continued hard work and dedication, even in these ridiculous temperatures, and I hope you enjoy the summer.

Alex, Chief Executive Officer
